Physical Therapist, MSc Strength & Conditioning Student
Lorenzo was born and raised in Trieste, Italy a city shaped by the sea and the wind, where sport is a natural language.
From an early age, he explored a wide range of physical activities: tennis, swimming, snowboarding, and rowing, before ultimately finding his true calling in sailing. After a formative period in Olympic classes, he returned to competitive sailing with determination following his academic studies, achieving several participations in European and World Championships in offshore and one-design classes.
In order to enhance his racing performance, he approached Olympic weightlifting and CrossFit, developing a strong interest in hybrid training, capable of combining strength, aerobic conditioning, and functional adaptation. This integrative view would become a core element of his professional approach.
He graduated in Physical Therapy from the University of Trieste, Italy in 2013, with a thesis on the professional placement of young physiotherapists in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. He began his career at Fisiosan, one of Trieste’s leading private clinics, specialising in musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation. Since 2021, he has been part of the team at the Azienda Sanitaria Universitaria Giuliano Isontina (ASUGI) at the Maggiore Hospital in Trieste, Italy where he works in post-surgical rehabilitation and collaborates within multidisciplinary teams.
Over the years, he has pursued continuous professional development, gaining certifications in manual therapy techniques (Mulligan, McGill, Stecco, Dry Needling, HVLA, etc.), as well as international qualifications, mainly from the United States, in motor control and movement-based systems (such as SFMA) and Strength & Conditioning for sport. Concurrently, he has provided support to professional athletes and competitive teams, including a local rugby team he worked with for over seven years.
He is currently completing an MSc in Strength & Conditioning at St Mary’s University in Twickenham, London, UK with a focus on bridging therapeutic exercise, recovery strategies, and return-to-performance principles. He has also served as a lecturer in various professional training programmes within the regional health system and as a university tutor for undergraduate physiotherapy students.
Lorenzo joined Sports Rehab in the summer of 2025.
